2nd Annual King of the Hill Hare Scramble

The 2nd annual King of the Hill Hare Scramble, a joint effort between the Bear Creek Sportsmen and The Square Deal Riders from Belden, NY, will take place on Sunday, October 9.

The event is open to the public and spectators are welcome. Last year, over 300 motorcyclist and four-wheelers participated in the event, with over 1,000 spectators there to watch the action. To register, or for more information, go to the Bear Creek Sportsmen's Web site at

Hancock Area Chamber Wins Delaware County Community Chamber of the Year!

Chamber President Chris Gross received notice on August 1, 2005 that the Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce was elected as the Community Chamber of the Year by the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.

The Hancock Area Chamber was recognized at the Annual Awards Dinner on September 8 at Kirkside Park in Roxbury. Several of our chamber members attended the event, and President Chris Gross gave a compelling speech about the many cooperative activities and projects happening in the area that led to this special recognition.

A beautifully inscribed native bluestone plaque was presented to Chris during the awards ceremony and is currently on display at the offices of the Hancock Herald.

Hancock Area Chamber Represents Largest Dual Membership in County

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce has reported that the Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce holds the largest number of dual chamber memberships in Delaware County. One third of Hancock Area Chamber members are also members of the County Chamber. There are currently 63 members total on the Hancock Area Chamber Membership rolls. Kudos to all those local business and individuals who support the growth and progress of our local community and Delaware County!

The Hancock Area Chamber has recently revised its membership policy to include options for multi-enterprise businesses.

Multiple memberships can now be purchased at a reduced rate, and additional business listings on the Chamber Web site are only $10.
